Xbox 360 inches closer to 25m units sold article image

Just as everyone was tightening their purse strings in the cold of this year's financial climate, Microsoft came along and announced that their console would retail at a price affordable to everyone. Thanks to said cuts, the Xbox 360 is about to do in three years what its predecessor failed to do in its four-year existence.

"By the end of this month, we expect our global installed base to reach 25 million units, surpassing that of the first Xbox" says Microsoft CEO of Entertainment and Devices. According to Joystiq, Mint is confident that this milestone is "only the start", since the general trend shows that more than 75% of a console's total sales come after the price drops below $200 (£150).
