Rocktober sales: World Tour tops Rock Band 2 article image

Rock Band 2 should be making its way to UK retailers as we speak, a week after Guitar Hero World Tour band packs started flying out the door.

Stateside, both games have been out for a while now and the calculators have been hard at work to see who has come out top. All in, the games industry took in $1.31 billion in October and unsurprisingly, World Tour has come out top on all four platforms. It's made Activision a princely sum of $67.3 million - not that Harmonix will be disappointed with Rock Band 2 bringing home £26.8 million, considering it was only released on two platforms.

A touchier subject is Wii Music, which only managed to move 81,000 units over the course of October. The outright loser was Konami's ill-fated Rock Revolution, selling a pitiful 3,000 copies.

US sales aren't always a precursor to how a game will fare this side of the pond, but with World Tour outselling Rock Band 2 nearly 2:1 it'll be interesting to see what game people go for. Will it come down to the setlist, the kit, or series loyalty?

Have your say.
