Yes it’s true! The next chapter in Square-Enix’s flagship series is set to enjoy a simultaneous PAL release on both PS3 and Xbox 360. It’s thought that this is a bid to boost the popularity of Microsoft’s console in Japan, where it is currently about as popular as a kick in the nuts.
This was the developer’s ‘big reveal’ of the E3 conference in Los Angeles (I was secretly hoping a next-gen remake of Final Fantasy VII was on the cards, maybe next year) alongside new footage and info on their many other RPGs including Infinite Undiscovery and a new Star Ocean, both penned in for an Xbox-only release.
Has Square-Enix switched allegiance regarding their format of choice? Probably not, but I can imagine an army of angry Sony fans baying for blood right now.
