E3: Metallica and Neversoft strike a chord article image

More awesome news from the E3 game expo in Los Angeles!

Old-skool rockers Metallica have signed a deal with Activision to release their new, long-awaited album ‘Death Magnetic’ in stores and as a download for both Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock and Guitar Hero: World Tour this Autumn.

It’s the first time a band has done this and the news that the tunes will be available on two versions of Guitar Hero at once seems to hint that old downloadable content might be transferable to World Tour when it is released later this year. We can only hope.

I would have thought, however, that Metallica, the great crusaders against music downloads would have been the first to refuse their songs a release as downloadable content.

I guess green is the new colour of rock then?
