Whilst web based games download services have taken a beating in the press, due to lack of continued developer support and a pricing model based on popularity rather than supply and demand, the economic climate (once again proving that not even the humble Square Go is above the classic journalistic tact of mentioning the recession in every possible article or news post) means that even these companies are offering great reductions.
This month's champions of cheapness are Direct2Drive who are offering Bioshock, Max Payne 2, Tomb Raider Legend, Civilisation IV, Sid Meier's Pirates!, Thief: Deadly Shadows and Empire Earth 1 and 2 all at five pounds. Yes you can possibly pick up some of the games for cheaper (I myself picked up the rather good S.T.A.L.K.E.R. for just one pound in a CD/Games store located in Partick, Glasgow) if you're willing to get your hands dirty (often literally in the case of thrift and charity stores) but with big titles like Bioshock and Tomb Raider Legend available without moving from your seat all for a cracking price, why not take advantage.
Check all this week's deals here, and stay tuned in the following weeks for RPG/MMO titles, Indie gems and last (and perhaps least if it just turns out to be individual Sims expansion packs - H&M Fashion Pack I'm looking at you) EA franchises.
