If you can drag yourself away from Liberty City, we have trawled our crystal ball to find out what is worth playing this May.
Week One (ish);
Boom Blox. (Nintendo Wii the 9th)
Steven Speilberg makes a game for kids (well he didn't make it - some real games geeks are pulling the pixels). Anyway he directs it and its about exploding penguin cubes or something. Wii based Jenga puzzle gaming. Thats a description. Probably.
Buy it, or maybe save your money. Rock Band wants to eat it.
Week Two;
Draglade (Nintendo DS, also on the 9th)
Fighting with music. Not in a 'Jefferson Airplane, stop the war, free love' kind of way. More of a 'coordinate attacks via the awesome power of my drum...' way
No one said it had to make sense...
It's a rhythm action beat' em up. Shaddap and read the review here
Week Three;
RockBand (Out on PS3/Xbox 360 on the 22nd)
Its only been out in america for about 1 gagillion months and done untold damage to wallets across the country.
Now EA has (finally) seen fit to release it here.
Drums, mics, guitars and all. Essentially a four player Guitar Hero but without being rubbish (like Guitar Hero 3).
Sadly the dent it will make here is rather more size-able than in the U.S. (its at least twice as expensive here). So if you want to play properly, you gan need a job. Preferably one that pays well and gives you a lot of hours. And so long as you don't sleep and just play it, it should be worth it. We should all thank EA for letting us play it anyway, really.
Week Four;
Quake Wars (Xbox 360/PS3 on the 28th)
A team based shoot em-up, set in the classic shooter world of Quake. Take control of one of five classes of character (scouts, medics, heavy characters etc.) working together with other players online to beat other players... online. In teams. Online.
Essentially being pitched to the more hardcore online audience, but it could be good fun to have a dabble at if you're into your team building and death.
