Hello All

It's Monday editorial time.

Scotland in Focus

Even before attending the NEoN Digital Arts Festival it became clear to me how many areas of the industry, yes the industry that makes the game you enjoy, remain in the shadows. Although it's good to hear about the big names and what they're doing sometimes it's all the people in the backrooms that are the unsung heroes.

As SquareGo is based in Scotland it would be a mistake to start anywhere else but, before you think Scotland has nothing to do with your gaming, remember Lemmings, Grand Theft Auto, Denki Quarrel and Crackdown are just a few of the games to have come from these shores. With All Points Bulletin and Crackdown 2 being major releases in the next year Scotland has time and again placed itself on the videogames map.

Starting next week and being a regular feature, on Thursdays, Scotland In Focus will seek to root names both big and small from the industry and talk to them about what they do, what barriers they find and what they love about working and videogaming in Scotland.

Some of these names you may not know but we're sure when you read deeper into what they do and what they've developed or are developing you'll be interested wherever you are on the globe.

If you're involved in the industry and think you have something relevant to say then please e-mail me at:

scotlandinfocus@square-go.com

And I'll get back to you.

Enjoy

Before you go

While I'm here there's another thing...

We want to hear from you. If you have any ideas, would like to make comments or have any [reasonable] questions then we'd like the opportunity to respond.

From now on any comments can be sent to:

comments@square-go.com

Obviously anything abusive will just be deleted but we'll seek to respond to any queries within two weeks.

Take care

Phil
