Review

As we've seen before, taking the best bits of top titles and melding them together does not necessarily make a brilliant game. Wheelman managed it, blending elements of Grand Theft Auto and Burnout to fine effect, making for a fast and fun actioner. Damnation gives it a go with highlights from fellow third-person shooters, and while not terrible, it does fall way short of the bullseye.

Splinter Cell: Conviction Preview by Josh Wilson | 30-06-09

Sam Fisher is back, and he is pissed. Not in the normal ‘terrorists are threatening the world, I had best utilise my super stealth skills and government gadgetry to save the day’ sort of way. No, this time it is personal. About as personal as it gets; Sam has gone rogue, leaving behind his government sanctioned routes to take to the streets, find the killer of his daughter and teach them a lesson. Probably involving his fists, and maybe even a car battery and their testicles.

Sacred 2: Fallen Angel by John Truesdale | 28-06-09

Sacred 2 is the second instalment in the series which is third person and uses a isometric top down approach similar to the Diablo series. Set in the magical world of Ancaria where a mystical substance known as T-Energy is the source of all life and magic. It was solely controlled by the Seraphim until they grew bored and passed it to the favoured High Elves. Now a civil war is being waged with all the races wishing to harness it to become the most dominant.

Champions Online Closed Beta Impressions by Joel Spencer | 25-06-09

Cryptic Studios bucked the Superhero movie game curse somewhat in 2004 by releasing a MMORPG based around the lives of Superheros rather than one or two in particular. Despite a few teething problems revolving around players creating in game avatars that infringed on Marvel and DC Comic's characters, the game was a success. However Cryptic Studios have now handed the reigns over to NC Soft and have licensed the Champions rule set for an entirely new MMORPG.
