Our regular readers will know that we try to bring our games together in loose sets, driving games, First Person Shooters etc... Every so often we come across games which are difficult to pack together with others. Either because the other games of the type are mainstream and beyond our remit or because there's just not enough games of that type to find. We'll therefore call this our third person view games set. Yeah it's weak but at least two games here knocked us on our arses.

It's time to don your 80's mullet, Lycra pants and trusty wireless guitar whilst rocking out to some of the seminal hits of the hair rock era with Guitar Hero Van Halen. Yes that button bashing cash cow Guitar Hero returns with another collection from a band willing to sell their souls for a few bucks; this time it's Van Halen, rooting through their back catalogue to pick some of their greatest hits.

For the love of... Shadow of the Colossus by John Truesdale | 02-03-10

It doesn’t matter who you ask, be it critic or a gamer, if asked they would both agree that this one title stood out from the crowd. That game is none other than Shadow of the Colossus. It is considered to this date to be one of the most accomplished titles on the Playstation 2 due to its outstanding originality, immersive gameplay and imaginative storyline. developed by Team Ico, who unsurprisingly brought you ICO and although the similarities can be seen right away I assure you that this is unlike anything you’ve every experienced.

Harry Potter and the First Impression by Elspeth Ritchie | 28-02-10

Unfortunately there is no way to un-see what has been seen. If there were, you could be introduced to this game properly. Instead of "LEGO are making a new game, it's Harry Potter...." it would be "There's a new Harry Potter game. It's LEGO!" It's all about the focus.

For the Love of... Vagrant Story by Michael Black | 26-01-10

Anyone who played Final Fantasy XII will instantly recognise that Vagrant Story had the same director, Yasumi Matsuno. Sights, sounds and everything else in between. He’s the reason you can pick up Vagrant Story today and still see a beautiful game, despite how pixellated textures can appear. Remarkable for little touches like how the mouths actually moved when people spoke during in-game cut-scenes. Even if they were speaking with comic book speech bubbles, it’s hard to think of another PS1 game that animated the mouth movements, generally opting for head bobbing instead.
