Pinball, according to a report by someone a few weeks ago in something that I read, is dead. Or just about. There is only one factory left – in the world – making pinball machines. Is this sad? Were these games any good anyway?
The Good People at Mr. Goodliving apparently thought so, and so 80’s Pinball was born. 80p unsurprisingly puts you in the paddle seat of a Pinball table, presumably come from that unforgettable era which brought us such timeless classics as 'Rick Astley' and 'Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors'.
While 80p does have the same sort of addictive edge that real pinball had (I say 'had' – having only played real pinball once, its difficult to say this with any real authority). You use your controls, left paddle, right paddle and the ever present and pointless nudge button to hit various parts of the table and score points. Brilliantly simple.
One arguably non-flaw of the game is the fact that there is only one table. One. 1. And as exciting and engrossing as this table is (if you are a die hard pinball nut who needs to have the constant ‘ping’ of reinforcement with him [or her – Ed] , it’s not unreasonable to have expected to be able to unlock more tables. After all, once your ball has gone sailing directly between your paddles for the hundredth time, it would be nice to be able to do this on something with different colours – but you can’t. Although saying this, there is nothing to say there is another table, it just seemed like there should be one.
The problem with 80p is not anything bad to do with the game as such. Just that, well it’s pinball, isn’t it.

Someone release Crockett and Tubbs 80's Pinball - smashing the pinball through neat pyramids of carboard boxes in alleyways.
