Review

Racing and puzzle games aren't the likeliest of bedfellows, but in Trials HD the two get up close and personal to deliver a unique experience that is well worth the asking price. On the surface, this is an extreme motorbike racing game set in an abandoned warehouse, full of twisted metal girders, explosives and 100-foot drops, all of which are just right for putting your rider through the grinder and seeing them smashed into a pulp. But look a little closer and you will start to see the underlying puzzle elements amid this orgy of destruction and pain.

Turtles in Time: Re-shelled XBLA by Dave Cook | 17-08-09

Time always makes the heart grow fonder, it's a tried and tested claim and one that certainly applies to the raft of old school titles receiving the modern treatment as of late. Ask any gamer who played the original 1992 home version of Konami's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time and it is likely they will reminisce about how much fun it was in four-player mode and get into a conversation about the cartoon and how cool it would be to buy the original series again on DVD. Speaking of which, someone make this happen please!

E4's Great British Summer of Games #7: Janey Thomson's Marathon by Craig Wilson | 05-08-09

Rarely does a game have the ability to render its player speechless. There does, however, come those few moments in everyone's lifetime when an interactive experience proves so deep or immersive as to actually render the player incapable of cognitive thought for a few fleeting moments. Having just struggled (and dear God, do we mean struggled) through a mere ten minutes of Janey Thompson's Marathon, this... running sim left us speechless.

Cubefield follows a pretty straight foward formula. You avoid cubes as your prism flies forward, earning more points as you progress. How can this be fun? Won't it look pretty plain? Is this a good remedy for boredom? Well, you'll be surprised what Flash can actually do in the hands of someone talented.
