Review

Ostensibly, Sean Devlin is an Irish mechanic turned race-car driver turned text-book reluctant hero. He just sounds like Robin Atkin Downes doing a shoddy impression of an Irishman: Which is no coincidence, since that's exactly what he is. Literally Resistance Retribution's main character with a different accent.

The over-the-top approach to the voice acting carries on through to the story and action in the game, although it flips between "serious" and action movie set pieces as often as Sean lights up (which is any time he can).

Colin McRae DiRT 2 by Phil Harris | 05-11-09

If there's one thing Colin McRae DiRT 2 (CMD2) does correctly it's to pay tribute. Right from the start of this off road racing game it brings his name into play with fitting respect for what he had achieved in his life. Your first car in the single player game is Colin's own from his appearance at the X-Games.

Trackmania, courtesy of FOCUS HOME INTERACTIVE, is a free downloadable game that’s as addictive as snake on a Nokia mobile phone. It’s not a game you’ll play because it’s incredibly challenging, or because it’s quirky, it’s a game you’ll dip in to when you have ten minutes free time and have read as much trivial surfing as one person can.

Wipeout HD Fury by Phil Harris | 12-08-09

Back in 2002, Studio Liverpool developed Wipeout Fusion for the PS2. It received varied reviews and, although it introduced the popular Zone Challenge mode to proceedings, was often thought to be the game that had marked the end of the series. However, it wasn't bad and was more of a case that the developers had bitten off more than they could chew with the existing technology.
